Our Diversity Midwives family is growing in many ways! As our colleague goes on leave to grow their family, we are looking for a midwife to expand ours.  We are looking for a General Registrant to start this fall with a full caseload, an innovative model providing ample downtime and a collaborative work environment.  While the position is for a maternity leave, we expect that the successful applicant will find a home at Diversity for years to come.  Please consider applying or pass the posting to anyone you think might be interested.

Who Are We

Diversity Midwives is an urban, Scarborough midwifery practice, established in 2001.  We are a practice of 11 midwives and work in a team based, shared-care model.  Our shared-care model facilitates a healthy work-life balance with ample time off. We are also a busy teaching practice, with students from the Midwifery Education Program, IMPP Program, University and College Nursing & Nurse Practitioner Programs and High-School Co-op Students.

Our Catchment Area is North to Davis Newmarket, South to the Scarborough boundary of Lake Ontario, East to Ajax/Pickering and West to 401 boundary.

Our Community is very culturally diverse; we pride ourselves on providing excellent, culturally sensitive care and have cultivated a supportive environment for our clients, midwives and administrative team. 

Hospital Privileges are held at the Scarborough Health Network, primarily at the General campus where o ur scope includes epidurals and oxytocin augmentation.  We also maintain privileges at the Centenary campus, have a large percentage of out of hospital births and regularly take clients to the Toronto Birth Centre.

Position Overview

We are seeking A General Registrant with an approximate start date in mid October 2021 to cover an 18 month maternity leave with strong possibility of permanent position.

This position is for full caseload (36-40 BCC) on a team of 4 midwives, with clients already booked into care.

Our innovative model of care prioritizes work life balance and collaborative midwifery.

We Are Seeking...

A fun and enthusiastic midwife

Someone with a genuine interest in serving in the community in a culturally sensitive way

Someone committed to providing care in hospital, home and birth center settings

Has strong skills in communication, organization, and a demonstrated commitment to teamwork

Knowledge of a second language is an asset, especially Mandarin or Cantonese, Tamil and/or other South East Asian languages
